Retreat tips please!

Both of these layouts are for challenges on Paper Whores. This one is for the weekly manufacturers challenge hosted by Joanie. I love Fancy Pants so much, this is my second layout for this challenge!

I hosted a quick fire sketch challenge using a Pagemaps sketch. I just loved this photo of my girls and didn't want it competing with other photos on the page. :-)

I also finished up my September calendar page today. I can't wait to show it to you!

I'm so excited to be going to a long weekend scrapbook retreat! I suspect I'll be doing more talking and relaxing than anything else. LOL I don't want to pack my whole scrap room, so I'm going to put a couple of "page kits" together, but the way I scrap, I'm not holding my breath that I'll be very successful completing anything. So my question to you is, what are your MUST HAVES to pack for a crop?

I hope y'all are having a happy scrappy weekend! Thanks for visiting! :-)

My mistake

In my previous post, I said that I had made a mistake on the layout of Peyton's dance portrait. Hmm, can't remember exactly what paper the pink background is, but it has embossed rainbows on it. And because the portrait album is an OLD Creative Memories album, it's not EXACTLY 12 x 12, but rather 11 1/2 x 12. So, I trimmed it up. Yep, I even trimmed off the correct side. However, when I adhered the photo to the paper? Yep! NOT THINKING. So then I had to trim another 1/2 inch off the other side of the paper. Grrrr. Like I said, it's done, in the album, and back on the shelf. No one will probably look at it for years to come. LOL

Shhhh... don't tell Peyton... I started her boyfriend album today. I'd like to thank whomever sent me the beautiful K & Co 6 x 6 album years ago. I knew it would come in handy one day! :-D It's the perfect size for the photo and the name, and the facing page is journaling about how they met, and how we, the parents, felt about them, etc. Caitlyn's little album is about half filled after just two years of being a teenager. LOL Here's the first page in Peyton's album...

Chris

And I decided that it wasn't fair to Ethan that the girls all have recipe albums and he doesn't. After all, he and girlfriend/fiancee/whateveryouwannacallher have to eat, so, why not? Here's the title page for their album...

Title page

All of the kids have the same poem by Joy Harjo on their title pages. If you can't read it, I'll put the text in my next update.

Thanks for stopping by and happy scrapping! :-)

Layouts and more

Hi ladies! It's been a busy week in my house! Ethan and his family came for the weekend, and I guess I didn't realize how old I was until I volunteered to have Ayden spend the night with the hubs and I in our room.

He's cute, but I look like hell! And NO, I'm NOT showing you my photo! LOL Mr. Ayden sleeps all day and likes to visit at night. So visit we did. My singing voice isn't so good at 3 a.m. but Ayden didn't seem to mind. :-D

Before Friday, I managed to get a couple of layouts done. But again, T.I.R.E.D. Can you see my mistake? This is a layout for our portrait album. I'm not going to fix my mistake, since I liked the paper weaving under the photo. If future generations notice, well, maybe someone less tired than me will take the time to fix it with some cool new paper line. LOL

And this one is for the One Little Word challenge at Ch{all}enge Masters. You might recognize this layout as one I started back in April, but I just didn't know what to do with it. This challenge gave me just the motivation I needed! There's TONS of journaling on the back, reflecting on my life happenings this year.

Joanie at Paper Whores has posted the next manufacturers challenge. We would love for y'all to come play!

Thanks for stopping by, have a great week! :-)

Happy August!

Is this year just zipping by? Yes it is! I don't know about where you live, but here in Alabama, we are truly in the dog days of summer. Near or at or over 100 degrees everyday with no reprieve in sight! Great weather for staying inside and scrapping! Be cool and check out the new challenges at Ch{all}enge Masters!

In addition to hot weather, July brought my first grandchild. I have to say, the circumstances surrounding his arrival is frought with controversy, but you can't take away his cuteness! :-D Ayden Parker arrived at 10:15 p.m. on July 27th weighing in at 8 lbs, 1 oz and 20.5 inches long.

As this is Ethan's son, and taking into account the many years of grief Ethan has given Glen and I, I made sure to give Ethan the motherly curse "may you have a child JUST LIKE YOU." And since it was ME giving the curse and taking into account MY luck, it of course backfired. Ayden appears to be the perfect baby, sleeping through the night at 3 days old. Maybe next time I'll just keep my mouth shut. LOL

Needless to say, I haven't had a ton of scrappy time, but I have completed a couple of layouts. Here's one I did of Peyton's dance portrait. Looks simple, but let me tell ya, that stitching on the photo took forEVER! Not a technique I'll be using often. :-D

Thanks for visiting! I'll be back soon with a couple of more DT projects. Have a great week! :-)
